In case if you are in dark support or in dark space consider using a flashlight, try searching the button on the backside of the router.

Step 2:- Press the factory reset button on your extender.

  • Take a paper clip or a pointed object such as a pen and put it inside the hole located.
  • Do not use to much pressure and the button is soft and by using too much pressure there are changes that you might break it.       
  • Press the reset button for around 10-15 seconds until the boot up process begins.

Step 3:- Release the reset  button

Release the reset button as soon as you see the extender light turns on.

Note:- Do not press the reset button for too long as it might damage your extender, and there are chances that this ends up freezing the entire process.

Step 4:- Wait for the extender reset process to Completed

  • Once the factory reset process is successfully completed the extender will boot up again.
  • Make sure that the extender is connected to the reliable power source and is switched on throughout the process.
  • Wait till all the lights on the extender turn solid green and none of them is flickering.

Note:- The process can take up to 5-10 minutes to complete.

  • If none of the above IP address works try visiting
  • A Netgear smart wizard appears to enter your default Netgear extender credentials in case you had not changed them
  • Enter the new login credential if you changed default credentials previously

Step 3:- Go to setting in the Netgear genie wizard

Once you are inside the Netgear genie wizard webpage, Find the reset option in order to reset the extender

Generally, you will find the reset button under the setting option, and then click on another setting

Step 4:- Choose the reset option.

You will see the various options and choose the reset option among them, Verify it by clicking on the yes.

Wait till the process complete as it will restore the extender to the factory reset settings

Note:- Do not panic as this will also end up your session on the website and you will be logged off.

Step 5:- Extender is Reset to the factory setting

During the extender reset process, the extender will reboot once again.

Do not switch off the extender and wait till all the light on the extender turns solid green
